Amazon Associates Success Tips

If you want to make money from your home, affiliate marketing is an easy market to break into. You have the convenience of setting up a website or Web 2.0 site, and then sitting back and letting the sales roll in, right?

In theory, yes. In practice there are many factors that add to or subtract from your online success, such as choosing an affiliate network that is going to give you the highest chance of succeeding.

How Do I Decide Which Affiliate Program Is The Best To Work With?

There are a number of great programs available, from Commission Junction, to Google Affiliate Network, to ClickBank – these are all big names in the industry, and they all have the potential to make you big money.

One of the criteria for selecting your affiliate network is conversion rates. Want to know who has one of the best conversion rates out there? Amazon. So long as you know what you’re doing to make the conversions happen, however.

The reason Amazon converts so well is fairly simple, and it has to do with customer trust. Does a customer have reason to trust your network? In the case of Amazon, by and large, the customer already sees Amazon as a trusted brand.

Shopping Amazon is much like shopping at Walmart or Sears or whatever big names are in your market – you know what to expect, and you don’t really have a reason to question the return policies, etc.

That’s why getting involved in their program makes a lot of sense – but many try and fail. They try to break into Amazon by setting up a blog on Blogger or some other free resource, then add widgets.

There are a number of reasons they do not tend to make sales, but then these people see the dismal “profit” they get with a lousy 4% commission on the three products they did sell.

What went wrong? It isn’t Amazon, that much needs to be said.

Amazon Associates Success Tips

1. Do not neglect SEO! Make sure you look at the competition first on a product you are promoting, this involves looking at the top 10 and seeing how “strong” a site they are, do they have high PR? Do they have tons of backlinks? Can you out-rank them?

Tip: look for low PR sites, pages with low authority on that particular product – it may be a PR 5 site, but the page will rank differently. Look for PR 0 or PR n/a sites, or low PR in general (less than 3).

2. Do target those items that have good customer reviews. This is a no-brainer, and you can also use the “movers and shakers” as well as “bestsellers” tabs at Amazon to find products that are selling.

3. Get your website or page ranking well in Google. This means good on-page and off-page SEO, using the free tools at Google is sufficient for this, along with a download of “SEO for Firefox” or “SEO Quake” – these are plugins that will give you the PR and backlinking data on your competition.

4. Follow a blueprint – from someone making money with Amazon. Do not take advice from people who have never made a dime on Amazon, only to hear them tell you that Amazon is “broken” and not a good program – the problem isn’t Amazon, it’s lousy marketing on the broke internet marketer’s part.

Be sure you take Amazon Associates success tips advice from those winning at being an Amazon Associate, that should go without saying.
