How Amazon Works – How Do They Make Money?

Amazon started from very humble beginnings and when they first came onto the scene they sold books only online. This business model represented somewhat of a challenge and for the first couple of years that Amazon was around they actually lost money. While Amazon still sells books, and lots of them, they now sell really anything under the sun and the days of losing money are over as Amazon now makes money hand over fist.

Amazon has various ways for people interesting in buying something to look up what they are after and many times you can obtain an item on Amazon that is new or get the same item used and save a little bit of money for yourself. The items that are for sale are provided by both big business and small home based entrepreneurs as well. Anybody can open up an Amazon account and sell products of their choosing with relative ease.

Similar to eBay, a seller on Amazon will create listings of the items that they have for sale and those items will then go live on the Amazon website. The items will stay up for as long as it takes for the items to sell, or until the seller decided that they want to manually delete the items for sale. Once an item sells and has been paid for the seller will ship the item to the buyer and the transaction is complete.

Amazon makes it money by taking a small percentage of the sale price of each item that is sold through its website, sort of like a commission. This is also similar to the eBay business model except that eBay charges an ‘insertion fee’ ever time an item is listed where as Amazon does not. So you only have to pay on Amazon when something sells.

It may not seem like Amazon can bring in all that much when they only take as small percentage of each sale. However, what you need to take into consideration is the fact that Amazon has millions of visitors each and every day and countless transactions happening all the time. While their take is indeed small and thus not all that significant to one seller, when you take a few million sales you can begin to grasp just how much money the online selling giant is capable of taking in.

While the company may have started out as a losing enterprise, they have more than made up for their first couple of under the radar years by making vast amounts of money with an ever expanding base of users. As their popularity grows, so too does their market share and the number of users that leave other selling venues such as eBay in order to sell exclusively on Amazon increases by the year.

The company that once only sold only books now sells everything from a thimble to and iPod and is slowly becoming the standard when it comes to places to buy and sell your items online. At the rapid pace of improvement that the company has enjoyed over the last few tears, it is easy to see why they are quickly becoming a household name.

How to Become Number 1 Amazon Best Seller

How to Become a #1 Amazon Best Seller is easier today since than most people realize since Amazon has recently taken the internet marketing community by storm. Courses have been flooding the internet to show newbies how to create digital books that sell like hotcakes, how to price them correctly, and how to rank them at the top of Amazon’s search results to drive readers into becoming incredible clients in their business. The result has been a very profitable selling experience on Amazon for many people, although you must learn the correct process to prevent yourself from being banned from the mega retailer.

Why Amazon?

With over 300 million active buyers, Amazon is the largest bookstore on the planet. It’s a brand name that is trusted among buyers as well as search engines, getting over 54 million hits per month. It sells over 34.2 billion products every year and is expected to make $100 billion in this year alone. Amazon’s Kindle outsold even the iPad, making it one of the most popular items sold. All of this puts writers who publish their work on the Kindle platform in a prime position to make large profits and become instant experts in their field of choice.

Becoming A #1 Amazon Best Seller

The path to becoming a #1 Amazon best seller is actually pretty simple. First, pick a hot market. Do a search for current Kindle titles and find out what is selling well and what you can write comfortably with a certain amount of research. Writers have had success with everything from erotic fiction to developing the perfect golf swing. Next, you must create your eBook. If you’re comfortable with the subject and your writing is strong, you might write it yourself. Otherwise, you can find many writers online who will be willing to create your digital book for you, for a price. Once you have your product, you must pick your price. Amazon has price range recommendations, and if you follow them you will receive a higher percentage of each sale. Also, take a lesson from the grocery store: if the price is listed as $4.00, it won’t sell as well as if it is listed as $3.99. Finally, hit the publish button and sit back to collect your royalties. You can promote your digital book in a number of ways or hope for it to be found. The choice is really up to you.

Amazon’s Rules

You’ll never become a #1 Amazon best seller if you can’t get your work published, and Amazon has a few rules that you absolutely must follow. If you break these rules, you can be banned for life from the number one retailer in the world. Read the terms of service carefully and make sure your book fits the proper format. Avoid the use of private label rights content unless it is heavily rewritten. Amazon has recently cracked down hard on PLR eBooks being sold unchanged, since this litters the market with duplicate eBooks that are of very low quality. In general, the number one rule for becoming a #1 Amazon best seller and avoiding getting your account banned for life is to create only high quality content. If your readers are highly entertained by your content and benefit from it, you will receive high reviews, get more sales, and build your reputation as an author.

Clever Techniques for Maximising Your Sales on Amazon

Selling on Amazon Marketplace is simple. But bear in mind that there are other sellers there too. You need to use a few strategies to get an advantage. Think of your Marketplace presence as a shop. What can you do to persuade buyers to buy from your shop? Here are a few ideas:

1. Choose a good display name when you first set your Amazon account up

Your display name is your ‘business name’ when selling on Amazon, which shows at the top of the listing when buyers search for products. This can be your real name, or a made-up business name. Amazon Marketplace buyers tend to prefer professional- sounding business names rather than personal names. Try and include something that tells buyers why they should choose you rather than just a meaningless name. For example ‘FastBargainDVD’ might be a good idea if you’re selling DVDs.

Remember, if you already have an account on Amazon which you’ve used for buying the name might not be ideal for selling – so change it or open a new account.

2. Take advantage of the option to add extra information to your listing

Remember you can add up to 2,000 characters of ‘Comments’ to your listing. So take advantage of this. Give buyers some reasons why they should buy from you rather than anyone else. Remember, Amazon buyers are hot on product condition and good service. So something like the following can really make a difference: A1 perfect condition. We despatch daily by first class post, securely wrapped in bubble wrap.

3. List new as used

This is a real Amazon quirk. Strangely, it can be an advantage to describe new items as ‘used’. This pulls in buyers looking for a bargain since they will look at the ‘used’ listings for a product before the ‘new ones – ever if there is very little difference in the new and used prices.

Of course, it only works if you can afford to sell your item for much less than the recommended retail price. It is also not such a good idea if your item is likely to be bought as a gift.

4. Aim to sell at the lowest price

As with selling anywhere competitive pricing gives you an advantage. But it is particularly important when selling with Amazon because listings are presented to buyers in price order, cheapest first – unlike eBay where they are sorted by listing age. So it is a big advantage to get your listing at the top of the page. Sometimes cutting your price by just a few pence (e.g. £49.97 instead of £49.99) can get you at the top of the page.

If you can’t price at the lowest price try to choose a price that gets you within the top three listings. Also try and give buyers reasons why they should still buy from you at a higher price, i.e. you do fast delivery or (in the case of a used item) your item is in really good condition.

Good tip. If you are the only seller it’s still worth pricing competitively. This will discourage other potential sellers from coming in and undercutting you.

5. Send the goods ASAP

Because Amazon itself sends goods quickly Amazon buyers tend to be a bit obsessed with fast delivery. Amazon expects you to send goods within two days but you should try to do it the next or even same day if possible. If you can – state that you do this in your listing. It can get you extra sales.

6. Post products reviews

On Amazon, buyers can post reviews on the products they buy. These can be seen by anyone thinking of buying that product from any seller. This is a really great feature of Amazon that’s often under-exploited. As well as written reviews you can also post photos and videos if you want to.

Amazon Selling Tips and Essential Money Making Information

Selling on Amazon is a great way to make money from home. Here’s some essential information about selling on Amazon to make the most of your profits.

How to fix your price

You can set absolutely any price for your item you like. What you ask will depend on the recommended retail price of the product, what Amazon are selling it for, if there are any other sellers selling it and what they are asking for it.

Do some research before you choose your product. It’s clearly an advantage to ask less for your product than other sellers are if possible – though Amazon buyers don’t necessary go for the cheapest seller.

Amazon differentiates clearly between ‘new’ and ‘used’ products in their listings. So if your product is used bear in mind you will usually have to sell it for less than the equivalent new item.

Selling for 1p… what’s all that about then?

One of the slight drawbacks of the Marketplace system is that it does attract sellers who price their products, mainly books, for 1p. They’re what some sellers call ‘bottom feeders’. They make their profit solely on the postage credit. Although you can do this if you want – and it can sometimes be useful for building lists of buyers who are interested in particular products for future use – it’s generally best avoided, at least initially. Try to avoid products where competitors are selling at 1p and focus on more profitable product areas instead.

Collecting payments. With Amazon, you don’t need to collect and process payments yourself. So you don’t need a credit card merchant account, or have anything to do with PayPal or wait for cheques.

Marketplace sellers have to use Amazon’s inbuilt payment system. With this system Amazon collects payment from the buyer and credits your bank account less their fees every 14 days. This, in fact, is one of the best features of selling on Amazon. Buyers like it because they don’t have to send money or credit card details to people they don’t know.

Running your Amazon account.

Another good feature of selling on Amazon is that there’s no complex admin to do. When your item sells, Amazon will send you a ‘Sold Dispatch Now’ email to notify you and give you the buyer’s address so you can send their purchase. All you have to do is make sure you dispatch the item to the buyer within two business days.

One important point. Amazon have recently introduced a ‘Charge When Ship’ system. This means that your payment will only be processed once you have notified them that the item has been sent. Don’t forget to do this, or you won’t get paid!

If you want to change a listing, cancel it, add new stock or refund a customer for something they want to return you can manage everything in ‘Your Account’.

What about shipping costs? This is a very important aspect of selling on Amazon. When you sell a product Amazon automatically charges the buyer for shipping at a standard rate and pays what they call a postage credit into your account to cover it. The postage is a fixed amount depending on the destination and the product concerned and is set by them. Unlike eBay, Amazon Marketplace sellers can’t fix their own postage charge. So, it’s important to ‘do your sums’ at the planning stage to ensure you make a profit after adding your postage credit and deducting the true cost of postage and packing.

Note that as well as the product referral or closing fees Amazon also charges a (fairly small) closing fee on the postage charge.

Feedback. A bit like eBay, Amazon has a feedback system too and gives a star rating to sellers which shows in your listing. But here’s another advantage – you’re not pushed to give feedback like eBay. So a lot of buyers don’t bother, or if they do the feedback they post is pretty bland. This means it’s easier to get up and running and compete on Amazon when you don’t have any glowing recommendations to rely on.

Sellers can leave feedback on buyers but you don’t have to and most sellers don’t bother – that’s all time saved to spend on something else.

Selling charges. Lastly, remember to factor Amazon’s selling charges into your selling price. ‘Sell a little’ sellers using Marketplace pay an 86p per item fee, plus a closing fee of 17.25% of the sales price (11.5% for electronics and photo items) for each item sold. ‘Sell a lot’ or Pro Merchant sellers pay one monthly fee of £28.75 no matter how few or many items they sell plus the closing fee of 17.25% of the sales price (8.05% for electronics and photo items).

Make Money Using Amazon

Many people are leaving the hustle and bustle of the traditional work environment and moving into the arena of owning their own home based business. Amazon offers an option for those that want to venture into being self-employed.

The following will show you how to make money selling on amazon:

· Learn the rules – In the “Help” section of the Amazon website, they have a detailed listing of their rules. Learn and follow these rules to the letter. There is no need to invest time and money to simply be banned due to something that is avoidable.

· Become an Amazon featured merchant – In order to achieve this, you must have a “real” sellers account with Amazon; have good sales and excellent feedback. It only takes a few months to become a featured merchant, and once you do, your revenue will begin a steady incline. This is key in regards to how to make money selling on amazon since you will be given a chance at the “Buy Box” which provides you with default sales.

· Use the proper fulfillment service -Do not make the mistake that many people have during their quest for financial freedom through Amazon and fulfill product yourself. Let Amazon do it for you. This frees up your time and once you bulk ship, each order will be shipped for you.

· Select products you know and have space for – The greatest thing to keep in mind when trying to determine how to make money selling on amazon is product selection. Do not choose to sell large dog crates if you have no knowledge of dogs nor the space to house a sufficient amount of inventory.

· Research your pricing – Most people do not achieve their maximum income potential because they underprice their products out of fear. Fear that no one will buy from them due to pricing. Research your competitors and determine your pricing afterwards. Be sure to include your price margins. Keep in mind that once a product sales, there are additional costs that accompany it. This will make you competitive and profitable.

· Use Amazon Marketing – Amazon already has tools in place to lead consumers to your products, let them do the heavy lifting. Save the marketing budget for other aspects of your business.

· Package and Label – Ensure that your products are packaged and labeled properly. There is no need to invest in inventory that will arrive at Amazon damaged and unable to be sold.

· Utilize Seller Central Reports – Amazon offers a great tool that help you track how much you have made and what level your current inventory is on. Using this will allow you to allocate funds properly and keep in stride with your customer demand. This is an integral tool for forecasting.

With a minimal amount of startup money, you can be well on your way to becoming a profitable Amazon merchant. Although many believe that it is a daunting task, it is quite simple. As with anything, however, it will require that you go through a learning curve. Learning how to make money selling on amazon is virtually as simple as finding a product that you can stand behind and learning how to list it in their marketplace.

How to Earn Money Selling Things on Amazon

You CAN make money selling things on Amazon. It is not very hard, and costs virtually zero to start up. I will share the steps, and a follow up article on hints and tips.

1. Set up an Amazon account. If you are here, you already probably have one. Within your account, you can set up a Seller Account. Do that.

2. Decide what you want to sell. Amazon has many categories, books and music are common items, easy. List the items you want to sell. Amazon has clear directions on how to do all this, from setting up your account to how to list your items, and so on.

3. Check your email account at least daily, ship items when sold. Eventually Amazon will deposit your profits directly into your bank account, if you set it up that way. They reserve your money for a while when you are first starting up, but you WILL get it.

This is NOT a get rich quick scheme. You need to learn, over time, what kinds of things sell best, how best to price them, how to get people to buy YOUR $3.99 book over the next guy’s same $3.99 book. It takes TIME for most of your things to sell.

Hints:

o I would set up a separate new email account just for this purpose.

o Read the Amazon articles, blogs, tutorials, and so on to get a better idea of how best to do this.

o I shop thrift stores and garage sales for items. I never pay more than $1 for a book, and buy almost only new books. You will learn over time what sells.

o I find buying audio programs are often a good deal and sell for considerably more than the $1-2 I buy them for. New programs are best. Things like Stop Smoking Now, Hooked on Phonics, etc.

o Things that sell well are self-help, self-improvement, diet-related, religious, and money oriented items.

o One of the very best ways to get people to purchase YOUR item over the next one is to offer something for FREE, like this free report. The free item needs to have value, you do not want to scam people or be dishonest. (I could easily sell this report for $3.95)

o The more you list, the more you will sell. But it also takes time, space, and organization if you have lots of items.

o Be scrupulously honest in your dealings and descriptions.

Other points:

o This is a business where you will have to keep, organize and maintain at least some inventory. It is NOT a set-it-up-and-walk-away-while-the money-rolls-in-web-site.

o I think there is potential to make a fair amount of income doing this, especially if you can find good inventory.

o Your time is also required in listing your items, processing sold items, finding items.

Is it Worth it to Pay For An Amazon Pro Merchant Account?

Amazon.com is the leader in selling books online bar none. I get about 80% of my book sales through Amazon.com and that has kept steady for over a year now. I signed up for Amazon’s Pro Merchant account about a month after I started listing online because I simply thought that I should to make more money. I’m not a huge planner and dished out my money without a thought. In hindsight, it was a good idea, but is it for you?

If you’re not familiar with Amazon’s Pro Merchant account, it consists of a monthly fee at the time of this writing of $39.99/month. Whenever you upgrade your seller account, it will give you a number of different features including the ability to create your own pages for your books if they don’t exist in Amazon’s database, the ability to take a spreadsheet and upload books in large quantities, not having to relist books that expire after a number of days that don’t sell and finally the removal of the $0.99 charge for every book you sell. That one in particular sounds pretty nice, right? You get to save on the buck fee for every book you sell? Just remember, that you are actually paying for that with your $39.99/month. With this in mind, if this sounds good to you and you’re thinking about a Pro Merchant account, keep these things in mind.

1. Do you sell more than 40 books/month?

If you’re paying $39.99/month and saving that $0.99 fee per book, if you’re not selling over 40 books/month, you will be losing money.
2. Do you require bulk uploading functionality?

Do you have a ton of books that you’d just like to put in a spreadsheet and upload to Amazon instead of having to list them one at a time?
3. Do you not want to mess with re-listing your books all the time?

With the Pro Merchant status, you can leave your books on Amazon inevitably, but is it really worth $39.99/month?
4. Do you have any books that don’t exist on Amazon’s site today?

Amazon’s book database is huge and it’s unlikely you have a book not in Amazon’s database already unless it is a very obscure book, but if you do, do you think it’s worth enough to list?
These are all the questions you need to ask yourself before signing up for Amazon’s Pro Merchant account. I hope that I was able to answer any questions that you had and more importantly, help you make an educated decision on if to spend the money on an Amazon Pro Merchant account.

How Amazon FBA Helps Entrepreneurs

Amazon FBA is a great way to ensure that you are able to have your products sold and shipped directly to customers so that you don’t have to worry about the shipping and handling procedure. It can also be quite beneficial for businesses who are unable to have an ample amount of storage space for their goods, as they house your products on-site. With that being said, Fulfillment By Amazon is essentially the perfect component for every seller. Prior to signing up, it is advised that you ensure that it is the right offer for you by determining how your products reach your customers, how you can have control of the process and the scalability of the program.

How Your Products Reach Amazon Prime Customers

The number one component to consider when selling with Fulfillment By Amazon is how your products will reach Amazon Prime customers. When you use Amazon FBA, all of your customers that have an Amazon Prime account will be provided with the opportunity to select two-day shipping for free. Alongside Prime customers, regular Amazon customers will be able to take advantage of the free shipping with orders of $35.00 or more. One of the largest benefits associated with listing with FBA is that your products will be listed without a shipping cost for Amazon Prime customers, allowing you to increase your sales.

What is Amazon FBA Seller Central?

Amazon FBA Seller Central is the aspect of the Amazon website that you will be able to use to have full control over what warehouse your items will be stocked in, how you want to list your items, and how you will display the selling features of your products. It is essentially an entire dashboard dedicated to your products and how they will be seen by the public. You will be able to search for your products once they have been added, look at the other prices of competing FBA sellers, and determine what steps you want Amazon to take during the sale such as shipping the products. Seller Central is imperative to the selling process as it will provide the “first impression” that your customers receive when they find your products.

What is the Scalability of Amazon FBA?

Amazon FBA scalability is another important factor to consider when working with Amazon. As your business grows, you will want to ensure that Amazon will grow with you to make sure that each order is fulfilled efficiently. With scalability offered by the program, you can rest assured that Amazon will be able to assist you during peak seasons and offer more resources when you are selling more products. With the ability to pack and ship either a single unit or thousands of different units, the options are endless.

How You Can Share in Amazon’s Global Success and Make Money From Fulfillment by Amazon

Amazon is the sales marketplace that originally started out as a place to sell books. But in the last decade it’s graduated to selling anything and everything… and become one of the biggest brands in the world. Not only that but it’s a famous brand that allows – in fact encourages – entrepreneurs to share in their success by selling products right there on Amazon itself.

Over the last couple of years Amazon have been working on another way you can make money in partnership with them. It’s called Fulfillment by Amazon.

How You Can Share in Amazon’s Global Success and Make Money from Fulfillment by Amazon

Now to me Fulfillment by Amazon sounds like a really exciting way of making money in the 21st century Internet age. Because it is a business model whereby you can just focus on marketing and making sales. Then have Amazon do all the “hard” physical work of stocking, storing and shipping your products to your customers for you.

You know, Amazon are always something of a puzzle to me! They come out with the latest, cutting-edge business models and invest millions in making them successful. There’s no doubt Amazon’s brand image, ordering and distribution systems are absolutely without equal.

Then they let any Tom, Dick or Harriet share them for free. Just why they would let ordinary people take advantage of all this for no up-front cost whatsoever, I don’t know! It seems crazy, it doesn’t seem to make sense at all, but they do it… and it’s almost always a big success.

So I thought it’s high time we came back to Amazon and looked at exactly how Fulfillment by Amazon works, whether it is as good as it sounds… and whether it can make some money for you.

Amazon… did you know?

* Amazon attracts 50 million consumers a month worldwide.

* Amazon has been voted the third favourite UK retailer (after John Lewis and IKEA).

* 1.3 million businesses are selling on Amazon.

* Amazon’s business grew 18% last year… when most businesses were shrinking.

So, what is Fulfillment by Amazon exactly?

The basic concept of Fulfillment by Amazon, like all Amazon’s concepts, is simple… although there are a lot of ins-and-outs which I’ll look at later. With this service you send whatever products you want to sell (your inventory as Amazon like to call it) directly to Amazon. Whether it be books, CDs, clothing, computer accessories, toys, or whatever. They store it in their warehouse for you. Then when orders are received Amazon will pick, pack and ship the product directly to your customers for you.

You can use Fulfillment by Amazon whether you just want to sell a few things on Amazon as a sideline or want to sell thousands of products. You can use it if you are starting a new business or have an existing one that you want to change over to Fulfillment by Amazon.

You can use Fulfillment by Amazon to send out things you are selling on Amazon itself or things you are selling elsewhere. This is what Amazon called Multi Channel Fulfillment. One more thing: if you start using Fulfillment by Amazon you don’t have to have everything fulfilled by Amazon. You can use it for some products and not others.

Pros and cons

So then, let’s have a look at the pros and cons of Fulfillment by Amazon:

Pro. You get to benefit from Amazon’s reputation. Amazon is a brand that’s trusted by customers worldwide. When they order something that is shipped by Amazon they know they will get it. And fast. And they know they can return it if they want to. This can make a massive difference when they are deciding whether to buy from you.

Pro. You can offer faster service. Amazon has state-of-the-art online order processing and fulfillment operations. Chances are they can get your products to your buyers faster than you can.

Pro. Your products can be ranked higher on Amazon. With an Fulfillment by Amazon item your item shows up at the top of the search more often than not. Products from non- Fulfillment by Amazon sellers are listed by total cost (product price plus shipping) but your items are listed by price only. So often you can price your items close to the lowest total price, maybe be the first item in the list and attract more buyers.

Pro. Your customers can get free delivery. Using Fulfillment by Amazon will mean your customers get free delivery on your products… using Super Saver Delivery or Amazon Prime. That can give you a big advantage over sellers who don’t use Fulfillment by Amazon.

Pro. Lower overheads. You’ll need to do the figures but, in most cases, there can be good cost savings. With FBA you won’t need premises for storage, staff to do picking/shipping and associated admin. It might even mean you can drop your prices, sell more goods and yet still make more profit.

Pro. You can be MUCH more productive. I think this is the biggest potential benefit. When you use FBA you won’t need to spend time sorting, warehousing, picking and packing goods. Amazon do it for you. They can also handle customer services, returns, etc.

This means you can spend almost all your time actually marketing and selling – things that make you money. And because you can spend more time doing that you should, at least in theory, be able to make more money.

Now, although Amazon will tell you there aren’t any disadvantages to FBA I think there are a few you need to bear in mind:

Con. It’s not so good for products that take a long time to sell or which are unproven sellers. Because you have to pay a monthly storage fee for as long as Amazon have your products.

Con. Using FBA might make it difficult to compete with other sellers, especially those also using FBA.

Because how are you going to differentiate your product and your service from theirs?

Con. This is what I think is the main drawback of Fulfillment by Amazon. Your business is almost totally reliant on Amazon.

What if something goes wrong… for example their systems fail and they don’t fulfill your orders or lose your stock? Or if they put up their prices?

And what if, after getting your product in an Amazon box, the buyer just decides to go back and buy from Amazon next time?

Getting started with Fulfillment by Amazon

So let’s have a look at how you can get started using Fulfillment by Amazon.

At this point I should say that there’s tons of detailed information on how it all works at the Amazon website. But that’s really hard going and a lot of it is difficult to follow. So here I’m going to try to give you a simple, user-friendly summary of Fulfillment by Amazon.

First of all Fulfillment by Amazon is not separate to the other methods of using Amazon. It is fully integrated with them. You just set up to sell on Amazon Marketplace in the usual way then choose to FBA the products you want to.

It’s very easy to get started with Amazon Marketplace. You don’t need to register in advance. You can open a seller account when you list your first product. To register as a seller you will need a business name, an address, a display name (which can be your business name or something else), a credit card and a telephone contact number. That’s all you need to get started. Go to http://www.amazon.co.uk, scroll down the page to ‘Make Money With Us’ and then ‘Sell On Amazon’ to get started.

Amazon offers two ways of selling – informally called ‘selling a little’ or ‘selling a lot’.

Basically ‘a little’ is for occasional and hobby sellers who expect to sell less than 35 items a month. It costs 86p plus a referral fee for each sale and you can’t sell in all the Amazon categories. Selling ‘a lot’ is for businesses who expect to sell more than 35 items a month. You pay a £28.75 monthly fixed fee and a referral fee. You can sell in all the Amazon product categories. The ‘selling a little’ option isn’t really for use with Fulfillment by Amazon.

To use Fulfillment by Amazon fully you will also really need to become what Amazon call a Pro Merchant Seller. Pro Merchants have access to volume selling and bulk listing tools. There is a web interface that allows you to more easily manage your product descriptions, inventory and orders. You will also be able to export and import information to and from your account. Normally the Pro Merchant option will work out much cheaper and therefore will allow you to work on tighter margins and make money from products and sales those who sell just “a little” can’t.

If you are already selling on Amazon all you need to do is convert to a business account and ask them to enrol you in Fulfillment by Amazon. It doesn’t cost anything to sign up so you can just try it and see how you get on.

Selling Products On Amazon Effectively And Successfully

Amazon is one of the highly popular online marketplaces where entrepreneurs gather and establish their businesses on. While Amazon offers a lucrative business opportunity, it pays to know and apply some guidelines that will make selling products on Amazon successfully.

Read Amazon Guidelines
If there is anything most important for you to do top become a fine seller on Amazon, then it is no other than to learn and be familiar with the guidelines set by this website on making money. Simply browse through the site and look for the page where commonly asked questions are answered. You can also look into the announcement board for sellers where you can read about details on technical issues or performance of the site.

List Items/Manage Inventory
Item listing is also another aspect of Amazon selling that you need to learn. Likewise, there is a dedicated page on the site where steps and rules for listing items can be read. Inventory must be updated on a daily basis, particularly when you are also selling the same products on other sites. Set the price for your items by first checking out how much other sellers sell products similar to yours. When it comes to pricing, do not be so attached on the actual price of your product. You can sell quickly and easily on Amazon by first checking out what the lowest offered price by other sellers for that item is. Then price your item one percent less than this.

Manage Orders
Instead of relying only on notifications via e-mail, it will do well for you if you will check your seller account regularly. Provide your customers with timely handling of returns and refunds. Refund of order should be done within 48 hours; refund issues must be completed within five business days upon receipt of orders. Good customer service also involves promptly answering client e-mails in 24 hours.

Complete Your Selling Tasks
Two days after you have been notified of the order, the items must already be dispatched. The item must include a packing slip. Always include your address in case the package needs to be returned. Include a note encouraging the customer to send you a feedback using the contact information you have provided. Follow Amazon’s guidelines on delivery.

Provide Professional Customer Service
Inquiries from buyers via e-mail must be responded to in 24 hours. This will help promote good feedback from them and good buyer-seller relationship with them. Remember to always use the specified language for answering queries. Answer customer queries tactfully and clearly. If the client asked for the condition of your product, you should always tell them honest answers like stating the exact condition of the product including tears and other possible flaws.

Protect Your Security
Regular changing of password is necessary to make your seller account safe from hackers. You should also consider having a separate financial account especially for accepting disbursements from Amazon. Always remember that Amazon will not require disclosure of personal and financial information via e-mail. It is best to type the address of the website on the browser bar rather than clicking provided links in the e-mail.
