Learning About Return Policies of Camera Stores

When buying our favorite items especially electronic devices from brick and mortar as well as online stores, it’s not all the time that we get the perfect product that we so wanted and free from damage. It’s unavoidable sometimes that during delivery or during the manufacturing process itself, the items encountered some problems.

Fortunately, most stores now have specific return and refund policies. That is why it’s very important to know about this even before you make a purchase. If you’re buying a digital camera or its accessories from camera stores, it is a must to get to know about the establishment’s return policy. The policy acts as a form of protection for consumers against defective items. This is also essential if you’re giving the item to a loved one or friend as a gift. At least when they are aware of the policy, they will know what to do in the event they find the item not working as it should.

Many of you know or have heard from others the saying that the customer is always right. And indeed, customers have the right to change any product that they buy which are not functioning properly before even using it or while using it immediately after receipt of the item. People spend their hard earned money to buy their most desired digital cameras and it is just appropriate that they are given fully functioning products that they so richly deserve.

The return and refund policies of camera stores may vary. Some allow defective products to be returned within 30 days after receipt of the item while some allow only a shorter period such as 10 to 15 days. Some shops may also accommodate return of damaged items although they may not necessarily refund the amount. Normally for camera stores that don’t allow refunds, they will just replace the returned item.

There are also cases wherein the bigger online camera store chains or from the major online marketplace such as eBay and Amazon products do not cover in their return policy cameras bought from their online merchants or retail outlets. If this is the case, customers have to return their defective digital cameras or accessories to the merchant where they bought the item.

When returning an item, most camera stores require that the product is still in good condition and be placed in its original and undamaged packaging including instruction manuals, plastic bags, warranty cards not filled out yet accompanied by the receipt as much as possible. For items that come with a software, this should not be opened otherwise, the store will not allow it to be returned.

As far as refunds are concerned, some shops will charge a certain percentage of restocking fee from 15 to 25 percent especially for items that were returned but not necessarily defective. Shipping and handling fees are not refunded.

So keep these things in mind to make sure you get your money’s worth. Educating yourself about return and refund policies will protect you from getting defective digital cameras and accessories.
