If you’re looking to make more money from home, becoming an Amazon.com affiliate is one of the most attractive ways to do it. The same reasons that make Amazon popular as a consumer also make it popular as an affiliate.

Amazon’s a trusted name. When a consumer moved into an empty apartment and need a new microwave, toaster, bedsheets, and throw pillows… they’re turning to Amazon. They can buy all these items from the same place from a name synonymous with online shopping. Amazon has even created a loyalty club called “Amazon Prime” where members get free shipping on all items and can borrow free books and videos.

Due to the trust factor, it doesn’t take a lot for a consumer to click the “buy” button after you direct them in Amazon’s direction. With the new “1-click-buy” feature, it’s hard NOT to buy something.

Another reason it’s attractive to be an Amazon affiliate, is due to the way they handle your referral. When you send a customer to Amazon.com, you get a commission on ANYTHING they buy in that session. So if you send your traffic to Amazon to buy a $5 bag of balloons, and they end up browsing and buying a $50K tractor, you’re getting a percentage of that purchase!

Before you get started selling with Amazon, you should know this handy little trick: You’ll get a volume bonus for the number of items you sell. If you sell just 10 items in a month, you might just get the standard 4% commission. However, if you sell over 500 things in the month that can very easily boost to a 10% commission.

This brings up all sorts of interesting strategies. You should be directing users to amazon for every little purchase, from a $300 fishing pole to a $3 hook.

The amount of money you can make as an Amazon affiliate is only limited by your imagination and determination.

Each Amazon site requires you to sign up to their affiliate scheme, so I have signed up to be an Amazon Associate for both Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com.

I walk you through the steps needed to sign up to the scheme, and then once your application has been approved then you are good to go. I also show you how to get the specific links for particular products, although Amazon itself has much more detailed instructions – we’d be here for a lot longer if I were to go through it all!
