EBay is one of the most common online action marketplaces where you can sell, buy or bid on products.

eBay fees: eBay fees depend on your subscription. The listing fee for fixed price items is $0.20 per item. Final Value Fee depends on what you sell, it varies (Fixed Priced items) from 8% to 15%. Your eBays store cost is ~$16 per month.
Advantages: It is action-based marketplace which means you can buy products cheaper. There is no store needed to sell online.

Amazon is an online retailer for a different kind of product and they sell their own products like Kindle—an e-book reader.
Amazon fees: If you sell more than 40 products a month, you need to buy a subscription, which is a $39.99 monthly payment. When an item sells, Amazon takes a 15% “referral fee” and charges a $1.35 “closing fee”. Some products have even higher “referral”and “closing” fees.
Amazon Advantages: It’s a marketplace mostly for businesses rather than for individuals, higher quality, and better search engines.
Amazon Disadvantages: Even higher fees than on eBay, higher product prices, and fake comments. To sell products you need to set up an Amazon store (which is $39 per month.)

Craigslist Advantages: It is free.
Craigslist Disadvantage: 1) It’s hard to find a particular product because its built-in search engine is very simple and allows you to search only by name with exact matches.
2) There is no information about the seller. 3) There are no opportunities to enrich your web presence (no themes no design features) 4) In the end, Craigslist does not have a buyer-friendly interface.

Social Networking Websites allow you to create business pages.
It is now a unique way to sell anything as you have your own circle of friends and groups.
Social Websites Advantages: 1) Easy and free listings 2) It’s easy to share your product information 3) People already trust you and the information about you.
Social Websites Disadvantages: 1) Websites are developed for social networking not for business or ecommerce purposes 2) So there are no interfaces, online instruments to search your products, filter results, or good descriptions 3) It is difficult to advertise your product, and you can only share information with your friends.

Google will now deliver fresh food, competing with Amazon
This year, Google Express will add fresh fruit and vegetables to its online grocery delivery platform in select U.S. cities, in a bid to get you to buy more through its site.
The biggest tech companies – Google, Amazon, Uber – aren’t just fighting to take over your mobile phone. They want to deliver your fruits and vegetables.
Google will start testing a delivery service for fresh groceries in two U.S. cities later this year, set to compete with e-retailer Amazon, and startups like Instacart.
According to Brian Elliott, general manager of Google Express, who spoke to Bloomberg, the trial will begin in San Francisco and one other as-yet-unnamed city in the US.
Whole Foods Market Inc. and Costco will be among Google’s partners for the new service, while the company already offers delivery services of non-perishable groceries in Manhattan and Chicago with supermarket Walgreen and others.
The move means Google is now directly competing with Amazon, which launched its Amazon Fresh grocery and fresh food delivery network in the U.S. in 2006. In July, Amazon was rumored to be trialing drive-through grocery stores in Silicon Valley and a restaurant delivery service, similar to Deliver in the UK, in Seattle. These additions signify a big push into food delivery from the retailer, which offers the cheapest grocery delivery service compared to rivals in New York City, according to an April study by Nomura Securities.
Google had clearly set its sights on Amazon for a while. In October last year, Google chairman Eric Schmidt made a telling remark at an event in Berlin. “Many people think our main competition is Bing or Yahoo. But, really, our biggest search competitor is Amazon,” he said. “People don’t think of Amazon as search, but if you are looking for something to buy, you are more often than not looking for it on Amazon.” To compete on Amazon’s home turf, this new effort by Google is likely a way to get more people to buy more things through its own site.
Although Google is currently only starting a limited service in the US, this is a ripe market for disruption. According to research analysts IDG, the online grocery shopping market will more than double in value to £17 billion by 2019 in the UK alone. In the US, it is already a $10.9 billion (£7 billion) industry, expected to grow 9.6 percent annually through 2019, according to a December report by IbisWorld.

AMAZON.COM has halted pre-orders of some Disney movies, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, in what appears to be another contract dispute after the online giant began a protracted spat with publisher Hachette Book Group this year.
Physical copies of titles such as “Maleficent” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” were unavailable for order on Amazon.com on Sunday. Digital copies of some of the movies in question were still available for pre-order.

Amazon.com did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the report. A Disney spokesman had no comment.

Amazon has been waging a battle against Hachette, the fourth-largest U.S. book publisher, over the price the online retailer can charge for ebooks. Hachette is owned by France’s Lagardere.

A group called Authors United ran a two-page ad in the New York Times on Sunday, criticizing Amazon for halting pre-orders from some Hachette authors and slowing delivery of books by Hachette authors. The ad was signed by more than 900 writers, including Stephen King and Donna Tartt.

Amazon says pricing ebooks at $14.99 or $19.99 is too expensive. It argues that cheaper ebooks sell more copies and so ultimately generate more revenue and more royalties for authors.
