How to make available PDF documents, MP3 audio files, and videos in a simple and professional way? Part 1 – Set up an Amazon S3 Account

Many of my clients want to make available to their clients (or potential clients) PDF documents, or a mp3 audio files and they have asked me how they can do it.
Sure there are many options. If you have a WordPress site, it’s easy to upload files and give away a url link. You also can use services like DropBox. But, thus far my favorite system is AMAZON S3.
AMAZON S3 is a Simple Storage Service that allows you to store files online, for backup or distribution purposes. This service is offered by Amazon Web Services (abbreviated AWS), part of the e-commerce giant Amazon.com. In practical terms you have access to a professional cloud computing platform at a very affordable price.
I was introduced to this wonderful resource by Jaimie VanSickle, the Director of Operations for Michael Port, and after using it for a while I couldn’t understand why most start-ups were not using it too, since it’s a system that can grow with your business. The more plausible reason is that it’s not the more intuitive system to sign-up for, yet it’s not difficult to do if you know the steps – and for making it even easier I created the blog post at http://anamelikian.com/?p=4902
